In her works Hertha Miessner continues to
think of herself consistently as a painter,
although her works are photography’s. She
‘unfolds’ her intermedial game in a literal
and in a metaphoric sense. The pleat or fold
is the place where the materiality of things
begins to vibrate, to transmute, to get
caught up in the ramifications of the medium.
The old-masterly Baroque opulence of Hertha
Miessner’s arts also induces by embedding
the motifs in darkness. She unlocks the soul
of painting in her works. They simulate an enigmatic surface which is
hiding something unexpected.
